Angelo_Banner[1].jpgHow it all began…

Angelo Cervasio was the oldest of three boys born to Alex and Virginia Cervasio.  At age 18, he went to serve his country by joining the U.S. Air Force. Once his term was up, he decided to apply to the police academy so that he could become a police officer and still serve his country. Somewhere in between, something happened…on January 17, 2006, Angelo lost his life to suicide.

C.A.R.E.S. Suicide Prevention was started three months after Angelo’s death by his mother, Virginia. Since no signs were evident and no note left behind as to explain why he decided to end his life, starting an educational program for middle and high school students was very important to Virginia.

in-the-dash” is one of the many programs offered as a result of his death in the hopes that we can help our youth to think about their life and ask “how am I living my dash?”

By discussing the risk factors and learning how to spot the signs that someone might be suicidal, lives can be saved.

Looking at a tombstone, what we look at between the dates, is a dash…

that dash represents LIFE.

YOUR LIFE…how are you living it??
